Aluminum Industry Energy Cutbacks Affect Small Business
SPOKANE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2001--Joel Simpson, Vice President & General Manager of The Coeur d'Alene Company's (CDA) Industrial Fabrication business in Spokane, Washington (OTCBB:CDAL) reported today that they had gone through a second layoff of their production people since the Northwest aluminum smelters have curtailed their operations due to energy related problems.
Today's layoff included 55% of the remaining workers. Coupled with the December layoff the Crew is now 68% from the peak of last winter. CDA Industrial Fabrication specializes in heavy carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum plate weldments for the Aluminum Industry throughout the Northwest.
