WHEREAS, Maxxam Inc., under the CEO of C. Hurwitz, has a long and detailed history of abusive and illegal labor relations, and

WHEREAS, Maxxam has inflicted irreparable harm onto it's workers and their families, and

WHEREAS, Maxxam labor relations practices have poisoned labor relations throughout American industry, and

WHEREAS, United Airlines is a major purchaser of Boeing aircraft, and

WHEREAS, Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation provides aluminum products used in the aviation industry, and

WHEREAS, any actions in which United Airlines participates that could in any way be helpful to Maxxam would be repugnant and anathema to United Airlines pilots and their union,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the pilots of United Airlines, through the UAL-MEC, direct the UAL-MEC Chairman to express to the highest levels of United Airlines management in the most forceful and emphatic fashion their extreme displeasure with the labor, environmental and business practices of Maxxam Inc. and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the MEC Chairman is directed to urge in the strongest way that UAL not purchase any products or services that are produced by Maxxam, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the MEC Chairman shall express to our United Steelworkers of America brothers and sisters our most heartfelt and sincere support in their long and difficult struggle against the illegal and immoral actions of Maxxam and its CEO C. Hurwitz.
