Tacoma Strikers make a visit to SCAB Headquarters

Well, let me see now how should I start or better yet where should I start?
I guess it started yesterday actually when we found out that Kaiser had opened a new location to hire their SCABS from in the Federal Way area, which is just a little north of Fife not that I would publish the address or anything but the area is real close to 30818 Pacific Hwy. S. Towards the back of the complex just next door to a real mans job site, the United States Marine Corp. recruiting station...

Anyway after the conference call this morning three of us decided to head on up to the office to see what kind of havoc we could create, but being very law abiding Steelworkers that we are we just handed out our literature telling our side of the strike to those that would take it anyway...

The three of us that were involved were myself R. W. Marsden better known as MOUSE, Don Amundson and Jess Dever. We talked three of the prospective SCABS from ruining their lives forever by letting them know that the SCAB thing will never go away and they would be tarnished for life...

We had the Police called on us, they arrived when I am sure it was convenient for them as I don't think they considered us a very large threat, officer Skinner badge #62 showed up and came over to us and talked to us before he went inside of the SCAB HQ. He was in there for quite a while getting his brain washed by those of some importance inside if you can call a 30 plus year retiree who didn't need the money to begin with tell his side of the story or what ever he was allowed to by his bosses that is... I won't say his name but I will print his initials they are as follows: JIMMY WALKER or JW for short.

The Officer came out after some time and again talked to us he asked us if we knew of the injunction or TRO that the company had against us I was kind of questioning the injunction but he went on to explain, we were not supposed to come within ten feet of Kaiser employees I said they are not Kaiser employees they are prospective employees or SCABS one in the same... He said whichever...so he told us what we could do and we followed it to the letter. We weren't to go up to any of them but we could ask them if they would like to hear our side of the story about the strike and if they came to us we weren't breaking any laws or in violation of the TRO so we did this. So after some time of being out there trying to talk as many as we could from going in (at a distance mind you) let me back up for a minute, before officer Skinner left we asked him to look at some Tacoma Municipal Codes we had and give us his interpretation of what they might mean, he look at them and said I am not an attorney but the way I see it Kaiser is breaking the law But Federal Way was not Tacoma and they are not enforceable here at least not until they cross the line (the prospective SCABS that is) county line between Pierce and King County once that takes place unofficially he said he believes we are right in our interpretation of the law as it is written...but we should have our attorney check into it further which we are having done....He was very cordial to us and we all had a laugh before he left he asked us to please not have him called back as he didn't want to have to get out of his car and get wet as it was raining fairly good at that time.

Then time went on as it usually does and we had another visitor this time by the owner of the complex, he said he had received some calls from the recruiting office about our presence outside of the building and some from Kaiser as well. He then asked if we would please not stay on his property so we said we didn't have a problem with that we would just move out to the sidewalk and he said there is nothing he could do about us being on the public sidewalk. Mr. Rhodes was very cordial as well he even took one of our leaflets and we can only hope that he will actually read our side of this strike that Kaiser has forced upon us.

After standing around and getting wet we decided to relent for today and went back to the Union Office in Tacoma and planned future trips back up to the Federal Way SCAB hiring site ... with any luck we will get more than three each time we show up outside of their illegal site in Federal Way ... can't think of much more to say about today's activities but you can rest assured that the STEELWORKERS of TACOMA local 7945 will be back and we will not let down until we win this fight against KAISER for we are committed to going just one day longer than they can....
